Standard Breath Meditation With Prayer of Light Chant

We’ll try to enter within.

We will use the Breathing Kriya,

Vigorous Breathing followed by Rhythmic Breathing.

Vigorous breathing,

Strong and vigorous breathing,

As strong as you can make it.

The stronger you make it,

The quicker you feel the lightness.

With the vigorous breathing,

The objective is to arrive at a lightness in yourself.

When you have arrived at lightness,

Follow up with rhythmic breathing.

Long, deep and strong breaths,

Strong enough to be able to hear it.

When you breathe in,

It is as if you reach into the skies.

Extend the breathing, deep breath.

Your body is straight,

Your back is straight,

Your head is straight,

And you are totally relaxed.

You should be able to hear yourself breathing,

Strong enough to keep you energized,

Keep you centered.

Things may come up,

Lethargy, even so sleepiness.

Stay with the breathing,

Strong enough to keep you energized,

To be able to hear it.

It will keep you centered,

In spite of your lethargy,

In spite of the sleepiness,

In spite of the thoughts.

There will be a quiet space,

A sense of quietness in yourself,

A sense of self-quietness.

Meditation is about staying with yourself,

This self-presence,

This self-quietness,

That you become aware of,

Through the help of the breathing.

Be totally relaxed.

There is no need for tension,

And yet you are energized.

Relaxation means to be totally alive,

And alert and sharp.

There is no tension and yet you are energized.

Breathe in, breathe out,

Breathe in, breathe out.

Stay with the breathing.

Fill up completely,

Empty out completely.

For meditation you need to be in harmony with yourself.

Breathe in, breathe out,

Breathe in, breathe out.

You should be able to hear yourself breathing.

It will keep you centered and it will keep you energized.

The objective of this way of breathing is to draw you in.

The more you are relaxed the more in you will go.

And you will be energized.

You are alert, you are sharp.

The objective of this kind of breathing,

Is to make you stationary in yourself,

To become still in yourself.

Keep the breathing going,

It always helps.

You will enter into a quiet space in yourself.

Stay with the quiet space.

Everything will come to a stop.

Stay with the stop.

It is a wonderful moment to be stopped in yourself.

Through the stop to reach to meditation.

Breathe in, breathe out,

Rhythmic breathing,

Rhythm of your being,

Rhythm of your life.

You will feel the pressure of the force.

You will feel the energy.

Keep with the breathing,

You will be energized.

Anything that comes up,

Thoughts for example –

Stand behind and watch over them.

Allow them to pass,

Keep letting them go.

This is the practice.

Keep with the breathing.

It will keep you up,

It will keep you sharp.

The breathing will help you to stay relaxed,

It will help you to stay energized.

Keep to the breathing.

It will keep you energized.

Long breath, deep breath.

If thoughts come up,

Stand behind and watch over them.

Allow them to pass,

Keep letting them go.

You will feel the force,

You will feel the energy.

Breathing will help you to draw yourself in.

It will bring you to a stop in yourself.

Stay with it.

It will also keep you up,

It will keep you awake,

Otherwise there is a tendency to fall asleep.

The breathing will keep you energized,

It will keep you centered.

Through the breathing,

To feel for the quietness in yourself.

Through being quiet to reach to meditation.

The breathing helps you,

To reach to the sense of quietness,

Inner quietness.

Feel it, be with it,

And through that quietness to reach to meditation.

You are centered in that quietness,

That quiet self, that quiet presence.

Stay with it.

Keep using the breathing.

It will keep you awake,

It will keep you centered,

It will keep you energized.

Whatever that comes up –

Thoughts, even so sleepiness,

Stay centered in spite of them,

Through the help of the breathing.

You are quiet,

Through the quietness you are in meditation.

Through the breathing to enter into yourself,

To be with the inner quietness.

Use the breathing.

It will help you.

It will bring you to the quietness.

It will bring you to a stop in yourself.

You will feel the force,

You will feel the energy.

Stay with the breathing,

Through the breathing stay with yourself.

Through the breathing,

You are entering into yourself.

Feel for the quietness,

The inner quietness,

The self-quietness,

The self-presence.

Through that reach to meditation.

Be stopped in yourself,

Through the help of the breathing,

And through that reach to meditation.

Through the quietness feel for the depth,

Feel for the depth in your being.

Feel deeply the inner quietness.

You keep the breathing going.

You should be able to hear it.

It will keep you energized.

You will not fall away into sleepiness.

Even if the lethargy comes,

You can move it through the help of the breathing.

Open out, allow it to pass.

And so also the thoughts.

You enter deep into yourself.

It will leave you intoxicated,

Energized, awake and alert.

Keep this practice going.

Keep yourself relaxed,

The breathing will help you to do that.

There is no need for tension, stress.

Consciously relax yourself,

Through the help of the breathing.

Consciously relax your body, your mind,

Stay completely relaxed.

You will feel the force,

You will feel the energy moving up to the top of the head.

Stay in tune,

The breathing will help you.

Breathing prepares you to reach to meditation.

You should be able to hear it.

It should be strong enough to keep you energized.

Feel for the quietness.

Stay with the quietness,

Reach to meditation.

Keep to the breathing,

It will keep you centered.

If thoughts carry you away,

Be aware of that.

Through the breathing come back to yourself.

The longer the breath the better it is.

Stay with the breathing.

Through the breathing,

Stay with yourself.

Feel for the inner quietness,

Stay with the quietness.

Keep to the breathing,

Through the breathing keep to yourself.

We will chant for ten minutes.

Take a deep breath each time before you start chanting.

                                                    Asato Ma Sad Gamaya

Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya

Mrityor Ma Amritam Gamaya…

Do not forget to take a long and deep breath,

Before you start chanting.

It helps you to stay with the chant,

And with yourself.

Asato Ma Sad Gamaya…

From incompleteness reach me to completeness, o Lord

From the unreal reach me to the Real.

This is the prayer.

Tamaso Ma jyotir Gamaya

From darkness reach me to illumination, to light, o Lord.

From ignorance reach me to wisdom.

This is the prayer.

Mrityor Ma Amritam Gamaya

From death reach me to immortality, o Lord.

This is the prayer.

Feel for the quietness once again.

Long, deep, strong breath,

Inner quietness.

We’ll stop here for this morning.
