Flame Gazing Meditation

Participants sit in a circle, facing a lit candle in the middle of the circle.

Begin with breathing –

Vigorous breathing followed by Rhythmic breathing.

Centre yourself.

Now look at the light.

You have to look straight at the light.

Quietly, ever so quiet.

 

Be relaxed and look straight at the light.

If you look right, it will bring you to self-awareness.

Provided you are not disturbed.

 

(10 minutes)

 

 

Now close your eyes and turn inwards.

Rest deep in the quietness.

 

(10 minutes)

 

 

Open your eyes and look at the light again …

Be relaxed in the body and mind.

No movements of the body. But be relaxed.

 

You must keep to the light.

 

You must not become any thought, nor any movement.

Watch whatever that comes up –

Thoughts – allow them to pass.

They are no concern of yours.

You are observing the light.

 

(10 minutes)

 

 

Now you can once again close your eyes.

Turn within.

Still continue to watch,

Being aware of thought – any movement.

Be relaxed.

Allow them to pass.

Go deep within yourself.

Be with the inner quietness.

 

(10 minutes)

 

 

You can open your eyes and look at the light again.

You must be undisturbed looking at the light.

You must keep to the light.

Do not lose your self-awareness.

 

(10 minutes)

 

 

Close your eyes and turn inwards.

Reach deep into yourself.
